Swedish Stockings

Swedish Stockings, a brand transforming the hosiery industry, has caught our attention with its sustainable approach to what is traditionally known as a petroleum-based product. Each year 8 billion pairs of tights are produced, worn only once and then discarded. According to Swedish Stockings, "this makes hosiery women’s biggest wear-and-tear clothing item."

Focusing on longevity, Swedish Stockings has demonstrated that sustainable manufacturing is not only possible but can also deliver high-quality and stylish designs. Their recent collaboration with Reformation showcases this commitment by using ECONYL and Creora fibres. ECONYL, a regenerated nylon, is made entirely from waste that would otherwise pollute the Earth. Through an extensive regeneration and purification process, the nylon waste is recycled to its original purity. This makes ECONYL identical to fossil-based nylon, without the need for new petroleum. Creora is the first 100% recycled spandex, crafted from reclaimed waste and performs just as well as virgin spandex. With over 80% of recycled materials used in their designs, we’re thrilled to see brands like Swedish Stockings prioritising eco-conscious innovation.

To further clean up the hosiery industry, Swedish Stockings launched a ‘Recycling Club,’ creating a series of coffee tables made from discarded tights - removing them from landfill. This initiative was developed in collaboration with interior designer Gustaf Westman. We commend Swedish Stockings for their commitment to circular fashion principles and their ability to craft exceptional products using sustainable and forward-thinking materials.
